Find And Fix Disk Errors In Windows 7

If your computer frequently crashes, doesnt shutdown correctly, keeps freezing then you could have errors on your disk.  The windows error checking tool "CHKDSK" can check your local hard-drive and automatically fix errors on your hard-disk.  CHKDSK checks your hard-drive sector by sector and will clear out most bad sectors.

To run CHKDSK open mycomputer and then right click on the drive you wish to scan and select properties.  Click on the tools tab and then click on the check now button.  Tick the option "Automatically Fix File System Errors" and "Scan For And Attempt Recovery Of Bad Sectors"  the system will then ask you to schedule the check to be done on next reboot.  Click on ok and then reboot your machine
