Microsoft extends support of xp
Microsoft have given in to customer pressure to extend the support of windows xp to 2014, adding an extra 3 years than originally planned. This will mean windows xp users will receive the latest security and hotfixes during this period.
Microsoft usually support ther operating systems for 10 years after launch, this move by microsoft shows that the release of vista has not gone as smoothly as first hopped.
Bill veghte senior vice president of microsoft windows business group said in a letter “windows vista is a very significant step forward, but our customers made it clear that they want broader support for devices and applications in order to enjoy the experience”. Well why give us an os we can’t use our apps on and does not support our hardware??
The letter also promised windows 7 (There next os to be released) will be released 3 years after the january 2007 release date for vista
